With Reiki Distance Sessions, the Reiki Practitioner and the receiver can be on opposite sides of the world! Whoa, what?
Yep, that’s right. Reiki can be “sent” across distances. But, how is that possible?
What happens during a distance session? How will I know it’s working?
The benefits to the receiver of distance sessions are exactly the same as those for someone who experiences a session in-person. Wait, really? There’s no difference at all?
In this post, we’ll answer these questions and take a look at how Reiki Distance Sessions might be right for you.
How can I work with someone across the world?
There are four symbols that were rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui during his time on Mount Kurama. One of these four symbols is known as the distance healing symbol. When used, this symbol allows the energy to transcend time and space. One translation of this symbol’s kanji (name) is “having no present, no past and no future”. Using this symbol allows a practitioner to channel Reiki energy across distances. Whether that’s around the block or across the world.
This symbol is taught at Level 2. Anyone attuned to Level 2 or higher can do Reiki by distance.
What are the benefits of a Reiki distance session?
The benefits of a distance session are exactly the same as those of an in-person session. In fact, distance sessions offer a few benefits that in-person sessions can’t!
For example, distance sessions mean that you can work with any practitioner, anywhere in the world. So you can choose someone that resonates with you regardless of your proximity to them. You aren’t limited to those practitioners near you. There’s no travel required, and you can enjoy the session right from the comfort of your own home. Convenient, right? Prices for each type are usually similar, and many practitioners will have online scheduling to make it even easier to work with them.
The benefits of Reiki:
- Helping our bodies’ natural healing abilities
- Mental and spiritual growth and transformation
- Being more present, tapping into our intuition and inner wisdom
- Dissolve any blocks we might be carrying with us
- Support the immune system
- Promoting deep relaxation and balance within the body
- Relieving emotional stress
- Reducing physical or emotional pain
- Promoting a positive outlook, more energy, better sleep
- Coping with transitions in life
- Supporting an intentional life, finding more joy, making positive changes, shifting mindset
- Help you live in the present, so you aren’t living in the past or worrying about the future
- Can be used alongside conventional medicine and any other healing modality
What happens during a Reiki distance session?
Every Reiki practitioner may have a little different process for delivering distance sessions. Some may meet with you online before your session via video conferencing or even by phone. Some will check-in with you by email or phone immediately following your session in case you have questions about anything that you experienced. Others may just proceed with your session at the appointed time without any check-in or follow-up. Choose a style you are comfortable with.
If possible, you should relax during your session. Sit or lie in a comfortable position. You may want to have a blanket and tissues nearby in case you need them. (Some folks may feel cold or become emotional.) A pillow can be useful in case you need extra support for your body so that you’re comfortable during your session. Set a timer so you know when your session is over.
If you’re not able to relax during your appointed time, the Reiki will still work and you will still recieve the full benefit of your session. Reiki is an intelligent energy. It knows where to go and what to do. Always.
Before your session begins, set your intention to receive the Reiki from the practitioner. We often say that Reiki is sent but this isn’t really true. Actually, the receiver draws the energy. All Reiki practitioners are just conduits for the energy, meaning it passes through them to you.
During the session, you might feel a warmth or tingling sensation in your body. You may fall asleep or even become emotional. Some folks will see or sense colors or light. Others will experience a deep sense of relaxation and calm. You might experience nothing at all. This is perfectly normal and doesn’t mean that the Reiki isn’t working. Everyone will experience it differently and your experience is unique to you.
Summary of Reiki Distance Sessions
So are Reiki distance sessions right for you?
That depends on your personal preferences, the availability of practitioners in your local area, and your own needs.
But here are some points to consider:
- Is there someone local to me?
- Do I mind traveling for my appointments?
- Do I feel comfortable with a distance session?
- Is my preferred practitioner conveniently located?
- Is being in the comfort of my own home important to me?
There’s no one right way for everyone and each option has pros and cons.
No matter which you choose, the most important thing is to enjoy your Reiki distance sessions!
Blessed be.
