Getting Ready For Fall Equinox The Green Witch Way

September has arrived and this harvest checklist will keep you on track for the turning time that comes just before the Fall Equinox.

For the green witch, harvest season has three festivals. Lammas, Fall Equinox and Samhain but today, we’re going to focus on that time of change that comes in the space between summer and fall.

Where we can take a moment to recalibrate ourselves away from the vibrancy of summer and into the time of reflection, balance and gratitude that fall brings.

Living in alignment to the seasonal shifts means you’ll likely feel the need to prepare and this harvest season checklist will help you get realigned with the shifting season.

About Fall Equinox

For the green witch, the Fall Equinox is a time of balance, reflection and gratitude. It’s the second harvest festival of the year and time to shift from summer’s abundant vibe into fall’s more introspective one.

This turning point invites us into mindful alignment with seasonal rhythms and intentional preparation.

At Fall Equinox, we simultaneously honor the abundance of Mother Earth, release what’s no longer needed and celebrate what we’ve cultivated in our own lives.

What we do at this time guides us towards a more balanced and magickal existence of living our magick every single day.

Fall Equinox Season Checklist

  1. Give Your Altar Space a Refresh

Dust your altar. Get out your altar decorations that represent harvest, balance and this turning of the wheel. Examples include apples, acorns, grains, goldenrod, colored leaves or whatever you feel drawn to use. Choose an altar cloth in the colors of the season like muted orange, deep browns or rust or golden yellow.

  1. Reflect

What have you learned, healed, released, or created this year? Write it down on a piece of paper and place it on your altar. Honor these things as your personal harvest.

  1. Release What No Longer Serves You
Your power grows when you let go of anything that’s not yours to carry into the next season.
Examples of things you can release include:  habits, beliefs, physical clutter or even relationships. Let these things go with intention and gratitude.

  1. Eat with the Season
Include something in your meals that connects you to Earth’s abundance: squash, apples, pumpkins, bread, root vegetables. Speak your gratitude for this food and the nourishment it brings.

Reminder: This expression of gratitude is ritual, too.

  1. Tune in to Nature
Get outside for a leisurely walk. Minimize distractions while you do this. Your goals is to notice. Observe the trees, grasses, how the air feels, what’s still growing and what’s done for the season. Consider how what’s happening in the outer world reflects what’s happening in your inner world.

  1. Create an Equinox Intention
Ask yourself: What do I want to carry with me into the darker months?
Then write a single sentence that captures your intention for this next season.
Place it on your altar, your mirror, or in your journal and be sure to look at it every day as a way to guide the choices you’ll make everyday.

 Bonus: Make It Your Own

Add other activities or elements that make this feel personal to you. Tarot or oracle card spreads, ritual baths, a daily gratitude practice or even a tea ritual can all be wonderful additions to your personal harvest season checklist.

Do what makes you feel magickal, balanced and the things that matter most.
